At Lavazza Professional UK, we believe that exceptional businesses are built on exceptional employee experiences. That belief has been recognised with our shortlisting as a finalist in the Employee Benefits Awards 2026 for Best Pensions Strategy.
But for us, this isn’t about recognition alone. It’s about the impact we’ve created for our associates.
A Pension Strategy Built Around People
Our benefits programme is continually evolving, guided by four wellbeing pillars: economic, social, physical and mental. Our workplace pension plays a central role in supporting financial wellbeing.
In 2024, we undertook a full review of our pension scheme to ensure our associates were receiving the best possible value, experience and long-term outcomes.
Bucking the Trend to Deliver More
Rather than follow the status quo, we transitioned to a Group Self-Invested Personal Pension (GSIPP) – delivering a c.38.5% reduction in member charges, alongside greater flexibility and improved access to retirement savings.
We also introduced a tailored investment strategy and enhanced digital tools to better support our associates throughout their careers.
Driving Engagement Through Education
We knew that a better pension is only valuable if people understand and engage with it.
That’s why we delivered a comprehensive engagement programme. From live presentations and one-to-one sessions to on-demand content and peer-led ‘pension champions’.
This ensured every associate had the opportunity to make informed decisions about their financial future.
The Results Speak for Themselves
The response across the business has been incredibly positive:
- 79% account activation rate
- Over 65% of associates transferring into the new scheme
- Strong increases in engagement and contributions
“At Lavazza Professional, we believe looking after our people means going beyond the basics. It’s about creating meaningful, long-term value for every associate. This nomination reflects the care, collaboration and challenge we’ve embraced to ensure our people have access to a pension scheme that truly works for them – both today and in the future.” – Sally Mackay, UK HR Director
More Than a Benefit; a commitment
Being shortlisted alongside organisations such as TUI is something we’re incredibly proud of. But more importantly, it reinforces our belief that taking bold, thoughtful decisions for our people delivers real impact.
This is not a one-off initiative – it’s part of a broader ambition to support our associates at every stage of life. We know that when when you invest in your people, the results go far beyond the workplace.
